Many possibilities for the parties of the summer

Plates are on their way back in interior design and not just as wall decoration! As mentioned before they have many uses. There is an incorrect rumor that you cannot use Christmas/Annual/Mother´s Day plates for food. I would like to clarify once more... THIS IS NOT TRUE, you can safely eat from all Danish bluepainted underglaze plates! That being the normal Christmas plates and mother's day plates.

Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates - Beautiful summer table
The blue plates from Royal CopenhagenBing & GrondahlDesiree etc. are actually meant to be eaten from... and are a good alternative for boring normal plates. With Christmas plates you can have many motifs. Just notice the wonderful summer table set with Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates.

Use the beautiful plates!

Here we see Bing & Grondahl Christmas plates used as dinner plates on a table set up for do-it-yourself burgers. The possibilities are endless...

You can also use old mother's day plates and commemorative plates for breakfast as shown here. The interesting thing about commemorative plates is that they have motifs connecting to an event that might still be fun and have relevance.

Take 2019... It is 50 years since Neil Armstrong set his foot on the moon and moon plates have been made commemorating this. And the best thing is that they are cheaply available! When relating to Denmark it is 800 years since Dannebrog (The Danish flag) descended from heaven and guess what! You can buy Dannebrog plates commemorating this! And these plates can be used for serving food...

There are many other possibilities...
There are many plates that cannot be used to eat from... What is often the case is that the motifs are printed on the glazing. This does not mean that you cannot use these for other purposes than hanging in a row. It is actually only your imagination that sets the limit!
Clock from Storm P. plates
Wiinblad Nymolle butterboards as clock
One of my personal favorites is to use plates as clock dials like in the pictures above. In the first pictures two series of Storm P. plates with six in each series and in the second twelve butterboards from Bjorn Wiinblad have been used. But you are not limited to a plate series, it is just about using plates that fit together....

Only imagination sets the limit!

There are numerous ways to use plates and it is only a question of experimentation. Both decoration and use are possibilities! And the best thing is that so many plates are available at reasonable prices today!
