Noritake - a touch of the East

Have you heard of Japanese Christmas plates? Now you can buy them at very attractive prices. - They were produced by the renowned Japanese porcelain factory Noritake and were issued in the 70's.
 
The motifs on the Noritake Christmas plates are colorful and very decorative. They show people from the history of Christianity in Japan and the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus in Japanese style. The Christimas plates are quite large with 27cm in diameter.

Noritake is a more than 100 years old porcelain factory. The factory was established in 1904 in the suburb of Noritake at Nagoya in central Japan. Noritake is still a large porcelain producer and Noritake dinnerware is known worldwide.

Aside from the beautiful Christmas plates Noritake has issued a series of exclusive Annual dishes / large plates with Japanese Nature images, among these we see a colorful plate with Japanese cranes, which is the national bird of Japan. The large Annual dishes are like a beautiful painting. - The plates are delivered in a green velour box, ...a lot of attention has been put into these large plates.

I am often asked about the difference between 1st and 2nd quality of Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl. This has prompted me to write a bit about it. Basically it is about an evaluation of the porcelain made in the factory after production. The finished porcelain was lookes over to see if they live up to the quality demands of the factory. Those that were deemed 2nd quality, where then sold at a lower price than 1st quality. Today only dinner service is sold as 2nd quality in factory sales, but the improved technique for burning the porcelain means that all the yearly cllector's items are sold as 1st quality now. The porcelain factory Désirée , also called Old Copenhagen Blue and Svend Jensen abroad, was once among the best porcelain manufacturers in Denmark. The Désirée name has been used in different contexts over the years and was perhaps best known by the labels of the tableware series they produced. Royal Copenhagen Easter Eggs 2019

Today I have the pleasure to present to you this year's Easter eggs from Royal Copenhagen. This popular series continues unabated.    The design of the Easter eggs have been radically changed! We still have the 6 small Easter eggs in single boxes and double boxes, but where the entire flower was formerly shown on the Easter egg, it is now large petals in closeup.
