Kay Bojesen - a collectors item

Kay Bojesen wooden toys are popular like never before! The old wooden figurines are highly priced at auctions and are sold at high prices. Kay Bojesen's univers of monkeys, guards, horses and skiers are trully unique and all the figurines including the relaunched figurines were designed by Kay Bojesen himself.

Kay Bojesen, who was originally a silversmith, started his production of wooden toys after becoming a father himself. He is one of the most productive Danish artisans in the 20th century with more the 2000 pieces of art on his conscious.

Today Kay Boyesen wooden figurines from his own time is highly priced, but his works are still in production. The design rights are being managed by his four grandchildren, who have assigned the rights to further production to Rosendahl, who is behind the relaunche of the popular figurines. Below you will find the latest relaunched figurines.

Learn to spot the difference between 1st and 2nd quality

I am often asked about the difference between 1st and 2nd quality of Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl. This has prompted me to write a bit about it. Basically it is about an evaluation of the porcelain made in the factory after production. The finished porcelain was lookes over to see if they live up to the quality demands of the factory. The porcelain factory Désirée , also called Old Copenhagen Blue and Svend Jensen abroad, was once among the best porcelain manufacturers in Denmark.
