How to spice up your home decor?

Why have plates plates been such a popular decorative item both in the past and today? Why have so many plates been produced through the years?
The reason is that plates have many advantages and great flexibility as a decoration. You can use the plates in countless ways, where only the imagination sets the limits. Below I will show you how to use plates in home decor.

Blue painted plates in a nice theme

It is easy to find plates in matching colour. Blue especially is easy to find and this also makes it easy to group plates. You do not need to have the same theme in the motif of the plates that you group, they just need to have a match in the colours for you to get an interesting collage. If you have a theme that you like, it will also be possible the make af grouping of these. There are for instance many plates with ship motifs
By grouping plates you also give them more weight in the room and they can fill out large spaces, when grouped well.
When using plates the patterns that you can form are only limited by your imagination. You can set them in lines, curves, circles or even just undefined forms on the wall. This way you can increase your options for variation in your wall decor and make your walls unique.

Sometimes you have a spot on the wall, where you need to fit something in. It is often a small spot, so you will need something small to fit in. Here a plate is usefull because it does not take up much space, but it can easily be fitted in and adds some life to spot. There are many different colour schemes, so you can have the colours that fit you the best.

Plates are low in maintenance and unlike photos and painting, they do not fade in sunlight. They are also very easy to clean as you can just take them of the wall and wash them, if they get dirty or greasy.
This also makes them well-suited to decorate your kitchen, where you have both grease and dirt, which damages painting, while plates can simply be washed to make them shine again. Plates can even be used for outdoors decoration.

I hope this has inspired you with many possibilities for decorating in new and inspirering ways with plates.
As an added bonus plates are not only usefull as wall decoration, but can also be taken of the wall and used for serving. So it has a touch of simple living to have items of use on the wall.
And it is an advantage that plates are round and thus are easy to set on the wall.
