DPH Trading's very own Elves

And at DPH Trading we are all getting into the special good mood we always are in around Christmas.

The candles have been lit and the joyfull christmas music is playing 24/7.

At home we are all getting ready for Christmas: Making cookies and candy to welcome the cosy holidays.

In my house - Christmas is not "right" if the homemade cookies are not served on a beautiful etagere made from the well known Danish blue plates.

If you have a collection of blue plats that you do not have hanging on you wall - now is the time to get them out of the drawers and onto the coffee or dinner table. They are perfect for serving cookies or cakes - or as a small lunch plate for Christmas luncheons.
All that is left to be said now is: Merry Christmas to All - May your Holiday Season be very joyful.

If you are in need of a christmas gift for your loved ones - www.dphtrading.com is open for business up until December 23rd.

Learn to spot the difference between 1st and 2nd quality

I am often asked about the difference between 1st and 2nd quality of Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl. This has prompted me to write a bit about it. Basically it is about an evaluation of the porcelain made in the factory after production. The finished porcelain was lookes over to see if they live up to the quality demands of the factory. Those that were deemed 2nd quality, where then sold at a lower price than 1st quality. Today only dinner service is sold as 2nd quality in factory sales, but the improved technique for burning the porcelain means that all the yearly cllector's items are sold as 1st quality now. In the past a large part of the production could be of a quality that did not meet the quality demand, which made it necessary to sell it as 2nd quality. However one must remember that the evaluation was made by people, so the evaluation of the porcelain could vary a lot, meaning that there was great difference in when figurines and plates were ju...

The Porcelain Factory Désirée - Svend Jensen - Old Copenhagen Blue

The porcelain factory Désirée , also called Old Copenhagen Blue and Svend Jensen abroad, was once among the best porcelain manufacturers in Denmark. The Désirée name has been used in different contexts over the years and was perhaps best known by the labels of the tableware series they produced. Selandia was the first dinnerware the porcelain factory Désirée made. Later, when it became popular to make stoneware and more robust dinnerware, came the series Thule , Diskos , Vesterhav and Jutlandia to be included in the range. Since the porcelain factory became more successful in the 1970s, 80s and 90s several popular dinnerware such as Polar , Mistletoe , Springtime and Scandinavia were introduced. All decorated and hand painted using the underglaze technique. Brief history behind Désirée The porcelain factory ...

Royal Copenhagen Easter Eggs 2019

Today I have the pleasure to present to you this year's Easter eggs from Royal Copenhagen. This popular series continues unabated.    The design of the Easter eggs have been radically changed! We still have the 6 small Easter eggs in single boxes and double boxes, but where the entire flower was formerly shown on the Easter egg, it is now large petals in closeup. This gives a strong and very different expression.   We still have a large Easter egg with tulip petals, but the lying and standing bonbonniere have been replaced by a single bonbonniere with honeysuckle and a new addition in the shape of a small vase with Geranium.   It is thus an exciting new series of Easter eggs that we have here from Royal Copenhagen.   In Stock for Immediate Delivery: We already have the new Easter eggs in stock.  It is my experience that Royal Copenhagen Easter eggs are sold out from the factory quickly, so we sell them as long as they are in ...
