Royal Whites Figurine: The Sandman Royal Copenhagen
The Sandman - Royal Whites Figurine by Royal Copenhagen

Royal Copenhagen introduced the Royal Whites figurine series at the end of 2008. The series was an entirely new wager from the company once known as The Royal Porcelain Factory, in an attempt to appeal younger peoples awareness of the old famous figures and figurines of porcelain.

The Royal Whites are a new enterpretation of the old as well as new figurines in white porcelain with several different glazing techniques dating all the way back from the origins of lovely figurines.

From the stunning old figures of a girl with a mirror, Venus, the bathing girl and Susanne, originally designed by Gerhard Henning produced with overglazing, the figurine from 1904 of sweet Else feeding the birds, the cute Cairn Terrier standing on two legs from 2002 to the Great Dane produced in 2007.

All the famous figures and figurines are revived in mat or glazed white porcelain or bisquit, making the details and the beautiful craftsmanship available for everyone to enjoy.

The American artist Shane Brox has reforged the magical Royal Whites figurines, leaving the classic figurines perfect for modern decoration without compromising history.

In 2011 the last figurines of the series were terminated, as Royal Copenhagen chose to cancel all productions of figurines and figures.

Learn to spot the difference between 1st and 2nd quality

I am often asked about the difference between 1st and 2nd quality of Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl. This has prompted me to write a bit about it. Basically it is about an evaluation of the porcelain made in the factory after production. The finished porcelain was lookes over to see if they live up to the quality demands of the factory. Those that were deemed 2nd quality, where then sold at a lower price than 1st quality. Today only dinner service is sold as 2nd quality in factory sales, but the improved technique for burning the porcelain means that all the yearly cllector's items are sold as 1st quality now. In the past a large part of the production could be of a quality that did not meet the quality demand, which made it necessary to sell it as 2nd quality. However one must remember that the evaluation was made by people, so the evaluation of the porcelain could vary a lot, meaning that there was great difference in when figurines and plates were ju...

The Porcelain Factory Désirée - Svend Jensen - Old Copenhagen Blue

The porcelain factory Désirée , also called Old Copenhagen Blue and Svend Jensen abroad, was once among the best porcelain manufacturers in Denmark. The Désirée name has been used in different contexts over the years and was perhaps best known by the labels of the tableware series they produced. Popular dinnerware by Désirée The logo of Désirée Denmark Svend Jensen Old Copenhagen Blue Amongst the dinnerware which was produced by Désirée was Selandia . Selandia was the first dinnerware the porcelain factory Désirée made. Beautiful 2017 Easter eggs from Royal Copenhagen

The time has arrived, when Royal Copenhagen again issues its popular series of porcelain Easter eggs. The older years of the Easter eggs are hard to find and increase markedly in price as a collector's market has been established. Thus I recommend that you buy now, as the Easter eggs from last year, where sold out very quickly. Like in prior years the motifs are beautiful and delightful flowers, butterflies and birds. The style of the motifs are kept in the clear and pure style that brings the thoughts back to botanical and zoological encyclopedias. See all Royal Copenhagen Easter eggs 2017 here! Royal Copenhagen Easter eggs work well set alongside the flowers of spring. On the pictures above you see a setup together with the  Bing & Grondahl Easter plates  that with right in with their spring motifs. The shown plate is  Easter 1917 .
